Each of us is effective in an area in which one gender is main. Lately, we both transitioned into academia and so teach in the respective fields of ours at the alma maters of ours. We knew we will encounter a lot of the same challenges as educators: how you can best engage pupils, how you can get pupils to see the importance of the course work of theirs, and just how to best prepare the upcoming generation of experts. Neither of us realized, nonetheless, which we both faced an additional challenge – gender disparity. Right now there continue to be much more females compared to males in nursing and much more males compared to females in IT. How could we help change these imbalances?
